Peer Review
All original research, reviews, and case reports undergo double-anonymized peer review – authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other throughout the process.
Reviewer selection:
-
Minimum two independent reviewers per manuscript.
-
For clinical trials, at least one reviewer must be a statistician (or a clinician with advanced statistical training).
-
Reviewers are excluded if they:
-
Have been at the same institution as any author within the past 5 years
-
Have co-published with any author within the past 3 years
-
Have a declared financial or personal conflict with any author
-
Review timeline:
-
Initial editorial screening: 3–5 business days
-
Peer review completed: 4–6 weeks (invited reviewers given 14 days to accept, 14–21 days to submit report)
Disclosure of review reports:
If the manuscript is published, the anonymized reviewer reports and author rebuttals are published alongside the article (optional for readers to view). Reviewers may choose to sign their reports but anonymity remains default.
Reviewer recognition:
Reviewers who submit timely, high-quality reports are listed annually on the journal’s “Outstanding Reviewers” page.
